Dunellen's Future, Together!

Dunellen's Future, Together!Dunellen's Future, Together!Dunellen's Future, Together!

William "Bill" Scott

“Growing up in Dunellen, I have seen the transformation of our Borough firsthand. As a 33-year-member of the Dunellen Fire Department, currently serving as Chief, I am excited and honored for the opportunity to further serve our Borough as a member of the Borough Council. I look forward to bringing my experience in Public Safety to help provide a unique perspective in future decisions as our Borough continues to evolve.”

William “Bill” Scott was raised in Middlesex Borough before relocating to Dunellen at the beginning of his freshman year of high school. At the age of 16, Bill began his journey of service by joining the Dunellen Fire Department, where he honed his skills as a Junior Firefighter. Over the years, his dedication and commitment propelled him through various Line and Executive positions, culminating in his current role as Chief of the Dunellen Fire Department.

Civic participation and public safety are foundational to Bill's identity. Drawing upon his profound understanding of emergency management, he forged a career path that led him to serve as the Chief of Emergency Services at Rutgers University. Bill boasts numerous certifications and licenses in Fire, EMS, Emergency Management, and Uniform Construction Code, underscoring his dedication to professional excellence.

Through his tenure in the Fire Department, Bill crossed paths with his wife Theresa, a lifelong Dunellen resident who previously served as Captain of the Dunellen Rescue Squad and worked as a Dispatcher for Dunellen Police. Together, they raise their son who currently attends Lincoln Middle School.

Bill’s Platform as a Dunellen Borough Council Candidate:

  • Invest in Borough Volunteers: Volunteers are the backbone of Dunellen—from the Fire Department and EMS to Recreation, DAICC, and more—and we need to establish recruitment and retention programs to maintain interest and involvement.
  • Responsible Development: The landscape of the borough is changing and it’s important that the Mayor and Council members ensure we continue responsible development as new projects are presented for review.
  • New Revenue Streams: Work closely with the Mayor and Council to seek new revenue streams and review appropriate cost-saving measures to maintain and/or enhance Borough Services.

With over three decades of emergency service skills and training under his belt, Bill offers invaluable firsthand experience in serving Dunellen and its residents during both the highs and lows, offering support and assistance through unexpected emergencies and difficult situations.

Bill’s candidacy for Borough Council marks the next step in his dedication to serve Dunellen. Bill’s diverse skills and experiences acquired throughout his professional and volunteer endeavors will bring a dynamic new perspective to the Council, complementing the existing team and propelling Dunellen toward an even brighter future.
